Today, IBM is announcing a beefed up ThinkPad line and a brand-new technology. The new IBM ThinkPad R50 and T41 models offer an airbag for your data. If you drop your notebook, the IBM Active Protection system senses that the system is in danger and temporarily parks the hard drive's read/write head to prevent a hard drive crash and possible data loss. In addition to this safety feature, the R50 has the option of a second battery for up to 10 hours of power. Both models are available with Intel Centrino Mobile Technology and integrated 802.11 a/b/g wireless capability
